I don't think it's quite fair to slag on this picture because it's about rich kids. It has no particularly trenchant or mind-blowing commentary on them; it just presents their aimlessness in a lyrical way. Scaled down to be sure from the sweetness of VIRGIN SUICIDES, but strikingly observant and poetic nevertheless. Coppola 3.0 has a nice eye and gets good performances. Emma Roberts, previously bloody dreadful in everything, gives a lovely performance here.
